Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Master Data Governance Manager to lead the implementation and adoption of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) across the enterprise. This role is central to our data transformation journey and will play a key part in enabling trusted, high-quality master data that supports critical business processes, analytics, and digital platforms.

As the lead for our enterprise data governance program, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of master data strategy, governance processes, and the SAP MDG platform. You will collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and data owners to ensure a scalable, consistent, and compliant approach to managing master data across domains (e.g., customer, vendor, material).

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and rollout of SAP MDG across the enterprise, ensuring alignment with business needs and IT strategy.
  • Establish data governance frameworks, workflows, roles, and responsibilities for managing master data domains.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, data stewards, and IT teams to define data ownership, resolve data issues, and drive adoption of MDG processes.
  • Ensure SAP MDG integrates effectively with other enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, Analytics) and supports long-term data strategy and S/4HANA readiness.
  • Monitor data quality KPIs, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in master data accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of business and technical professionals; provide regular program updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Manage internal IT team members, consultants, and vendor resources involved in MDG development and support activities.
  • Establish and provide ongoing support for the SAP MDG model post-go-live, ensuring system stability, user training, and continuous improvement of master data processes
  • Develop and implement a data governance model that defines key roles such as data custodians, data stewards, and data owners, ensuring clear accountability and effective management of master data within SAP MDG
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of master data quality, establish KPIs/score cards, ensuring compliance with governance policies and identifying areas for improvement. Implement data quality tools and technologies to automate data validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to develop data management policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between business units and IT to ensure that master data requirements are understood and met in system design and implementation
  • Facilitate change management process by helping with organizing training sessions & workshops to encourage the adoption of master data governance practices
  • Play an active role in issue resolution by facilitating resolution of data related issues and conflicts, facilitating discussions among stakeholders to reach consensus

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise data management, with 3+ years leading SAP MDG implementations
  • Strong understanding of master data domains (Customer, Vendor, Material, etc.) and data governance best practices
  • Experience working with ERP platforms (SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA), data integration tools, and data quality solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business and IT, influence stakeholders, and drive change
  • Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $130,000-$160,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
